​Since 2010, Dr. Richard Laherty has served as the deputy director at Princess Alexandra Hospital. After he graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, Dr. Laherty completed postgraduate fellowship training at Princess Alexandra Hospital., St. Vincent’s and Concord Repatriation Hospital.  Active in research, Dr. Laherty contributed as a clinical research fellow at the Queensland Cancer Fund between 2003 and 2006.

In addition to his position as a deputy director, he is also a neurosurgeon consultant and senior lecturer as he enjoys training young neurosurgeons in the latest technologies. He maintains affiliation with the Society of Lateral Access Surgery, the North American Spine Society, the Australian Medical Society, the Australasian Trauma Society, the Spine Society Australasia and the Neurosurgeons Society of Australasia.
